M2 Definition Certification Workflow

Certified has to mean something.

Form Document

What it's for

A definition is certified when its owner has approved one meaning and its context of use, the calculation is written down and tested against the data, and everyone who uses the term, AI tools included, can find it. Without a workflow, 'certified' tends to mean someone typed it into the glossary.

This workflow sets out who does what, the criteria a definition must meet, and how changes are controlled so that reports and AI tools don't drift apart. It feeds the critical term register (M1) and the AI context pack (M4).

What you get

  • The workflow Six stages, two loops
  • Certification criteria Ten tests before a definition is certified
  • Change control When a definition changes
  • Certification request form Request form, with a worked example

How it connects

A request is checked against M3 for open conflicts and its source against S2; once the owner approves it, the term is published as certified in M1 and the M4 packs that use it are updated.
